PILITICAL
AND SOCIAL ORGANIZATION

had a chief, which depended in turn, other principal chiefs. It is mentioned
that some populations were divided into districts, which were a group of houses
or villages dependent on other people. Each neighborhood had its own chief, and
all the various neighborhoods had a principal chief.

ECONOMIA:
ECONOMI:
Corn used as
feed, this grain, squash and beans, was the economic basis of pre-Columbian
peoples. Efficient agricultural production led to the dedication of a group of
individuals of different tasks of sowing and reaping, which brought the
specialization of labor. Hunting and fishing provided the variation in the
diet. Plants such as maguey and cotton gave the raw material for the tissues,
and these, along with ceramics and the salt obtained from underground sources
that flow to the river Ullucos served to trade with neighboring peoples.
